Shifter End - Shift Cable Bushings

Honda never sold the shifter end cable bushings by themselves and even then, the OEM bushings are soft and made of thin plastic. Typically OE units are either worn, broken, or missing by this point in time.

We started making our reinforced prototype units in 2015 to eliminate play at the cable connection point where the shifter itself connects to the shift cables. Here’s our breakdown of K-series shifter play:

75% of play is in the OEM shifter box itself. The plastic components in the shifter wear and get smaller over time, more play can easily be felt and seen when the shift boot is off. An aftermarket shifter like an Acuity 3 or 4 way (which we love) will eliminate this play, but will not eliminate the play at the next mentioned connection points.

15% of play is in the Shift Bushings at the transmission end where the shift cables connect to the transmission. The old rubber bushings shrink and get hard, where a lack of precision develops. Acuity makes these as well.

10% of play is the connection point where the shift cables connect to the shift box. Our shift bushings eliminate this last bit of annoying play in the system. We’ve outfitted our bushings to numerous track and street driven vehicles, the real majority of which still using OEM cables. Our prototypes from 2015 are still going strong, some of which hitting over 80,000 miles of street and track usage with no signs of slowing down!
