G.E.M. EP3 Steering Rack Bushings finally cures off-center OEM mounting

Notice the amount the steering rack is moved in order for it to be properly aligned and center mounted.

No deflection, solid mounting points ensure direct steering inputs.

We’ve done countless EPS conversions and rack refreshes for clients over the last decade and have always noticed a large imprecision in the OEM EPS steering rack mounting design. The oversized mounting holes cause the steering rack to be installed off-center, causing a lack of consistency and symmetry between left/right turn suspension geometry. In 2023, we finally decided to begin to solve the issue with our own original design. Engineered to center the steering rack on two dimensional planes and machined from aluminum to completely eliminate deflection in the mounting system. The stock mounts essentially have the steering rack floating on rubber bushings. By centering the rack and eliminating deflection in the mounting system, we noted direct steering response and were surprised to find an increase in chassis rigidity. After numerous prototypes and over a year of testing, we found solid mounting the heavy/substantial steering rack, acts as additional support to the neighboring mid-bar, an area that Honda clearly knew needed reinforcement. By addressing our main centering issue properly, we found benefits elsewhere with no deflection in the mounting system.
